Animal Health Australia is conducting an industry liaison officer training workshop in Adelaide on Dec 5th. If you are part of a national horse organisation and are possibly interested in taking a SA role, speak to your national organisation about supporting your nomination to attend. Training is free. Training is also open to nominated reps from other states.

The key characteristics to perform the Liaison – Livestock Industry functions include:
• Strong leadership skills
 Recognition by industry that they have the authority to represent the EADRA signatory Industry Party
• The authority to apply policy and commercial decisions on behalf of the Industry Party
• The authority to seek resources from the industry to the response, preferably without the need for further consultation
• Extensive knowledge of the state-wide structure and operations of the relevant livestock industry/ies
• Balanced knowledge of the scientific, political, legal and management aspects of the response
• Well-developed networking and negotiation skills
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships
• Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality
