The header photo was taken at the 2016 Royal Adelaide Show, which was Horse SA’s last year at the show for a while. We would like to thank all the volunteers who have supported the stand, and the many regular raffle sponsors including Benson Park Trail Rides, Pike & Joyce, Horse FX, Minrosa, Lower Lakes Stockman’s Challenge, Four Oaks Farm, MJET Riding School, Academy of Dressage,  Koolyangarra Equestrian Centre,  Westwood Park,  William Park,  Bonnetts Saddleworld, International Animal Health, Tuffrock,  Microchips Australia,  Kirrilly Thompson Arbonne,  Helen Barnes EA Level 1 Coach, BitBank Australia,  Metalcorp  Proteq Equine Bedding  Pony Club SA, Dilutes SA  and many, many more over the past 17 years. (Apologies in advance for missing so many! – this is just a taster) And of course, thank you to the RAHS for their great support and staff who go up and over the top each year to make ‘The Show’ the best! – and a ‘fast fact’ of the day – during that time approx. 2.5 M individual carrots were given out on the Yellow Brick Road.
Happy Riding & best of luck for all show competitors.

International speaker, and winner of Australia’s highest science prize award for work related to horses, Dr Andrew McLean is visiting SA.On Friday 15 Sept., Andrew will be at the launch of the book he co-authored Tom Roberts ‘Go forward, dear’ A horseman’s life and legacy followed by a H-ELP fundraiser dinner (Human Elephant Learning Program). Saturday features the Kersbrook education day  ($40 all day & free for pony club members). If you are on Facebook, click through to a new video (1.45m) recorded today, where Andrew talks about his approach to horse training.

TRAILS: Report trail damage. Thank you to cyclist Wayne Hanson who has reported broken Kidman Trail posts last week. Fortunately, easier to fix than the $$$ damage to new walking trails in Onkaparinga National Park. Lets hope this is sorted before the Tom Roberts Horse Trail is relocated to a site nearby.

CULTURE: Recognising a pioneer of Australia’s equestrian success (book review) by Assoc Professor Kirrilly Thompson about Horse SA’s new book on the life and legacy of Tom Roberts. Read it here.
