This program supports Horse SA, the not-for-profit community based organization growing the horse industry in South Australia

HorseLog Program Outline

1. What is HorseLog?

Horselog is a participation recognition program. Participants will need to nominate for one area of interest at any time, register online and start recording the hours spent being with horses! Currently the program supports

  • —  Horse riding
  • —  Horse driving
  • —  Groundwork
  • —  Volunteering - including committee work, coaching, stewarding or judging conducted by any incorporated club conducting a horse activity, show or race meeting.

Hours accumulated before joining this program cannot be counted.

The program is conducted entirely online.

2. What do I get for participating in HorseLog?

  • —  Certificates of recognition are awarded on joining (download immediately if joining online)
  • —  Laminated certificates will be awarded and posted to recipients at 20, 50, 100 & 250 hrs
  • —  Certificates are awarded at 500, 750 & 1000 hrs.

3. What horse related activities are eligible for HorseLog?

Riding: Includes any style or discipline of riding, or being led!
Driving: Includes being in the cart, as a passenger, CDE groom or the actual driver
Groundwork: Includes lunging, long- reining, natural horsemanship, in-hand high-school training, lead outs on trails, leading as part of exercising horses in a swimming pool/water body or on a treadmill.
Volunteering: Includes coaching, judging, committee work, Riding for the Disabled, horse show or race day helper, equestrian vaulting lunger.
This category also recognises the importance of trained volunteers. Therefore attendance at training sessions, conferences or workshops associated with a horse activity e.g. jump judging training, governance for horse clubs, coaching skills etc. can be counted

4. What does it cost to join HorseLog?

  • —  HorseLog is free.
  • —  At the point of registration, participants will also have the opportunity of joining Horse SA (see www.horsesa.asn.au for more information)
  • —  HorseLog participants do not need to be a member of Horse SA to take part in this program.

5. What are the other benefits of HorseLog?

Horse Log provides Horse SA with important data on use of horses, horse related facilities, trends in horse use, horse related tourism and volunteering. These statistics will be used to preserve our current riding resources and for the promotion of new facilities, trails and other horse industry benefits. It will also assist in determining statistical trends in different states and countries.

Information provided by horse enthusiasts will be treated as required by Australian privacy laws.

6. What other information do I need to know?

  • Hours are carried over from one year to the next.
  • —  Participants must nominate for either the horse riding (which includes equestrian vaulting) or driving or groundwork or volunteering.
  • —  Open to all ages and to anyone from any country.
  • —  Currently, participants can only undertake one category in one year.
  • —  Persons who are already financial members of Horse SA, and have not received information about HorseLog, are invited to contact the Horse SA office.
  • —  Only actual time in the saddle, or in the horse drawn cart, recognised groundwork activities or volunteering should be logged. NOT ELIGIBLE is Grooming, feeding, general horse care, clipping, shoeing, floating & traveling time, paid work or business activity, shopping for horse items or other similar duties.
  • —  Time recorded is based on the honor system. Anyone knowingly falsifying information will be disqualified without refunds and will be ineligible for future enrollment. Validation may be requested. Decisions, including those for eligibility, record keeping and awards rest with a panel appointed by the Management Committee of Horse SA and their decision are final.
