Why Join Horse SA?
Horse SA
Providing the connection between the horse industry (you) and Government – to ensure our horse investment is protected for the future
Our Purpose:
Horse SA is a grass-roots, all-breed, non-discipline specific umbrella organisation dedicated to linking the horse owners and the horse industry of South Australia into a powerful, common voice in order to protect our common horse interests through Government liaisons, and a range of key initiatives. The more we band together the stronger our collective horse industry voice will become.
Why a Horse Council?
South Australia is undergoing growth and development. The “environment” in which we live, work and want to enjoy our horses is constantly changing. Our different levels of government operate in a very “process orientated” way, constantly introducing new laws, consulting, seeking review, requesting industry representatives on committees, undertaking strategic plans, developing policies and updating Acts, Regulations and By-Laws.
Experience has shown that horse owners are some of the first people “crowded out” as we are – well… doing what we love doing best – riding, racing, breeding or just enjoying our horses! As an unintended result, often government overlooks the horse industry, particularly if our industry voice is not acting as one group.
It is very important to be a “Player” in government processes today, to ensure a future for our industry. Horse SA employs an Executive Officer to work with Horse SA members, local horse owners, clubs, organisations and industry bodies to resource, liaise and advocate to government - for our industry
Through Horse SA undertaking tasks – it enables a person to:
- Keep a horse (planning regulations)
- Ride & train a horse (community land for clubs/trails/exercise tracks/beaches/road safety)
- Keep a horse healthy (Biosecurity/education)
- Get a job with horses (workforce development)
- Join a club or start a small business (community/industry development)
Collectively these tasks combine to grow our horse industry in this state.
Is your club or small business - or you - a player in the team that is working to protect, foster and grow the horse industry in this state?
Why Should I Join?
Because the political environment is changing everyday and without proper representation the horse industry may be subject to unreasonable laws and regulations.
Because many laws and regulations are regularly reviewed, and it is important for the horse industry to provide comment, influence decisions, share information and contribute to policy formulation.
Because membership is affordable, and a small investment to have horses in our future
Because it is the “right thing to do” as a responsible horse owner, business or club!
Because information is powerful and the more you understand and the more you know about legislation and regulations the better you will be to protect your investment and our broader horse industry.
Because the more individuals who join Horse SA the stronger, louder & more effective the horse industry's voice will become in the political process.
Because the relationships between industry sectors, including between racing and non-racing sectors are facilitated on key issues e.g. planning regulations, strategic planning
Because promotion of research, protection of public land and other strong causes are supported
